Camping in the Invermere area and surrounding Columbia Valley offers many options for the RV traveller or avid outdoor adventurer. A large variety of private, Parks Canada and BC Foresty maintained campgrounds offer perfect get-away options for every type of camper.
Beaches & Boating
Soak up the sun! Invermere has two main beaches, Kinsmen Beach and Athalmer Beach at James Chabot Provincial Park situated on the north end of Lake Windermere. Full service Marinas, watersport rental services and boat launches are available at various locations on the lake.
Natural Hot Springs
Go ahead, take a dip anytime of the year. Invermere is located only minutes from several notable hot springs in the Columbia Valley, including Canada's largest - the Radium Hot Springs.
Hiking & Backcountry
Invermere is surrounded by vast wilderness with countless hiking, climbing and backcountry opportunities to explore. One example is the world-class mountaineering destination of Bugaboo Provincial Park. It's unique granite spires offer an unparalleled view of the Purcell range. First pioneered by Conrad Kain, the spires are now home to many timeless and popular climbing routes.
Skiing & Winter Sport
However you choose to get down the slopes, Invermere lies on the doorstep of several world-renowned winter destinations. Two of the top 10 ski resorts with the highest vertical drop in North America, Panorama Mountain Village and Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, reside in the valley; as well as, the Bugaboo Lodge – birthplace of heli-skiing.
For something different, a short drive into Kootenay National Park will take you to the eco-friendly Nipika Mountain Resort on the Kootenay and Palliser river, with some of the best nordic-skiing in southern British Columbia.
